- 2Match the tool to the flooring type on the packaging — a tapping block or pull bar rated for click-lock vinyl/laminate isn’t always the right choice for a different install method.
- 3Keep the tool clean and dry between uses so it doesn’t mark or damage plank edges.

Do I really need special tools to install click-lock flooring?
A tapping block and pull bar prevent damage to plank edges that a hammer alone will cause, and make tight-fitting rows (especially the last row against a wall) much easier. For a DIY install we always recommend at least a tapping block.
