How to use Custom LevelQuik ES Self-Leveling Underlayment (50 lb)
- 1Prime the subfloor first per the primer’s instructions — a compatible primer keeps the leveler from drying too fast and losing its bond.
- 2Mix Custom LevelQuik ES with water to a pourable consistency using a drill and paddle mixer, following the bag’s water ratio.
- 3This is the "Extended Setting" formula, so it gives you more working time than a rapid-set leveler — useful for larger pours or if you’re not working with a pump.
- 4Pour and spread with a gauge rake; it self-levels on its own in minutes and can be poured up to about 1.5" thick in one shot.
- 5Let it cure fully before installing tile, resilient flooring, carpet, or wood over it — follow the bag’s cure schedule for your specific floor covering.
- 6Don’t use it as a standalone wear surface — it’s a prep layer under your new floor, not a finished floor on its own.

FAQ
How do I know if I need a patch compound or a full self-leveling pour?
Small gouges, seams, and low spots (under about 1/4") are a job for a patch/skimcoat compound. A subfloor that’s sloped, or has low spots across a large area, needs a self-leveling underlayment that pours and finds its own level. Ask us if you’re not sure which your floor needs.
How long before I can install flooring over it?
Cure time depends on the product and your new floor covering — check Custom LevelQuik ES Self-Leveling Underlayment (50 lb)’s bag for the exact window, and always confirm before laying flooring over a fresh pour.
