How to use Roberts 2350 Hard-Set Resilient Flooring Adhesive

  1. 1Make sure the subfloor is clean, dry, flat and free of dust, old adhesive, paint or sealers before you open the pail.
  2. 2Spread with the trowel notch size printed on the pail or bucket label for your specific flooring type — that’s set by the manufacturer for a reason and shouldn’t be guessed.
  3. 3Follow the open time and set method (pressure-sensitive vs. wet-set) on the label — setting your flooring too early or too late is the single most common glue-down install mistake.
  4. 4Roll the finished floor with a floor roller to fully seat it and push out trapped air.
  5. 5Hold off on heavy furniture and appliances until the adhesive has fully cured per the label’s cure schedule.

Do I need a primer before using Roberts Roberts 2350 Hard-Set Resilient Flooring Adhesive - 1 Qt. (946 mL)?

On bare or porous concrete, yes — priming first lets the adhesive bond evenly instead of soaking in unevenly. On plywood or an already-sealed subfloor, a primer usually isn’t required. Check our Adhesives & Primers page for the matching primer.

Pressure-sensitive or wet-set — which method should I use?

Most modern flooring adhesives, including this one, can be used either way. Pressure-sensitive means you let the glue flash off until it’s tacky/clear before setting the flooring — more forgiving for DIY. Wet-set means you set the flooring directly into the wet adhesive — faster, but less room for repositioning. Follow the open-time window on the pail either way.
